SOFY - mine

Eagerly awaiting single releases to place them in a project's narrative is one of the most exciting parts of being a music fan, and SOFY is absolutely hitting that mark right now. The second single of her upcoming project 'Another Day in Paradise' releasing next Spring, this song adds dimension to the project's leading single 'togethertogether' and takes a more vulnerable approach to assessing the feelings of yearning for another person that we can see threaded through both singles. The inquisitive tone taken in chorus of 'By the way, would you ever? / Turn your guilt into pleasure? / Blame it all on the weather / Kinda think it'd be better / If you were mine' invites her listeners into this new SOFY era, in which we are giving the videotape to watch and explore her recent experiences and emotions. We are so excited to see how this project unfolds and to hear these singles in the grand scheme of the project's track-listing! Pisces season can't come soon enough...

Thomas Headon - Panic!

Thomas Headon is back with this new exhilarating sound ahead of his surprise EP, 'wasn't a fighting kid' set to be released this week! The project's leading single 'Panic!' marks the beginning of a new era for Headon after a digital detox and his last release last Spring, and this tune marks a really promising return. We hear Thomas increasing his intricate production (with a reunion between his collaborators Josh Grant and Stephen Barnes - a dream combo) even further. For instance, the song hosts a The 1975-esque breakdown in the bridge with a stripped back collection of intriguing sounding instruments and haunting vocals. Lyrics like 'I spend too much time on my phone / When I hate the world, I don't leave my home / I don't know where all my taxes go / Though everyone talks about what they don't know' introduces a new level of vulnerability in Headon's songwriting, writing about a sore but real subject matter of when things get a bit too much and the importance of taking time to recover when you need it. Welcome back, Thomas!

Caroline Romano - Pretty Boys

This is absolutely a track for all of the thought-daughters out there, Caroline Romano's recent single 'Pretty Boys' pairs the gut-wrenching heartbreak emotions with explosive anger at the betrayal of a romantic partner. The combination of stripped back moments like 'I'm not gonna hurt you, even if I wanted to' and the energetic chorus really imitates the feminine rage of romantic breakdown. The track covers so much ground in a small amount of time, and it makes for a really exciting listening experience - one tune that you can absolutely have on repeat for hours on end. This is the perfect companion to be paired with Gracie Abrams' deluxe edition of 'The Secret of Us', and we cannot wait to stomp down a street covered in autumn leaves with both Romano and Abrams blasting in our headphones. It's a thought daughter Autumn.

Rachel Chinouriri, Cat Burns - Even

These collaboration is what dreams are made of! Both Rachel Chinouriri and Cat Burns have such a distinct and impressive sounds, but the pair unite and blend beautifully in their track 'Even'. Questioning 'We talk the same, dress for fame / Why does no one believe in / Us the same? Never change / Guess they never played us even,' Burns and Chinouriri are turning the camera back onto the music industry and shining a light on the barriers that are still in place for Black and POC artists. While the lyrics highlight the feeling of helplessness that these artists have over their treatment in the industry, there's a line in the pre-chorus of 'Tied my shoes, ready' remains a hopeful tone that once the industry starts treating all artists even, they will be ready to shine to their full potential. Chinouriri and Burns are true diamonds in the current music scene, and this track highlights the importance of giving them their flowers - on both an individual bases and from a wider industrial lens.

Ella Rosa - FUN

Bending genres is something that is highly praised in the music scene at the moment, for our general yearning for new sounds and a new outlook of making music, and an artist that has absolutely perfected this is Ella Rosa. Her recent single 'FUN' combines R&B, bedroom pop and electronic music, ensuring that no matter what sound you gravitate towards, you will find something you like in this track. Not to mention, it even includes a melodic operatic line as a nod to her previous life as an opera singer. This is your chance to get on board with the next big pop star so that you can have bragging rights forever. Don't say we didn't warn you.

Alexa Perl - What You Do

For fans of Christina Aguilera, this reimagining of 'Genie in a Bottle' is for you. Taking what we already know and love from the classic tune, Alexa Perl injects the track with an influx of infectious energy, giving it a new, modern twist. This is a perfect addition to Brat Autumn with its ability to immediately get you up and dancing to this contagious club anthem. Above all, this is a feel-good track, radiating energy from start to finish, and is bound to uplift any mood.

Alfie Templeman - Dirty Laundry

Every song that Alfie Templeman touches turns to gold. For a song just over two minutes long, 'Dirty Laundry' has that classic Templeman unique and jazzy sound that we all know and love, With seemingly a focus on perfection rather than excess, this track is home to some simple yet effective lines of a jazzy guitar tune, drum beats and Templeman's vocals. The song's subject matter really suits this sonic decision with its repetition of things building up and the cycle continuing, the catchy chorus sings 'Upside down / This indecision's got me / Inside out, again / My thought is overloaded / Dirty laundry pilling up inside my house'. The choice to take a jazz-infused structure for this song was the perfect move, with song being all consumed with the idea of cycles and change - as always, you can tell the genius behind Templeman's songwriting. This song is going to go hard on Templeman's tour, starting next week, so make sure you've got your tickets and dancing shoes at the ready.

The Hospital - Trying To Fall Asleep

With no teasers or snippets released for this EP, it truly meant that listeners could digest this new release exactly how The Hospital intended. This is a fantastic idea to gain momentum and anticipation towards a release day, allowing fans to truly become immersed in the world built for their listening pleasure. The debut EP itself truly did not disappoint, with a clever combination of an upbeat soundscape, alongside more openly emotive lyrics. 'I Don't Wanna Sleep Alone' feels like a raw stream of consciousness, diving into the idea of loneliness and we become privy to the internal dialogue of confronting fears and anxieties, and even making sense of these emotions. This track delivers that same gut-wrenching ache you get from 'Somebody Else' by The 1975. The EP as a whole is a must-listen for alt/indie pop lovers who resonate with the sometimes melancholy side of life, as The Hospital offers a beautiful exploration of this.

Conan Gray - Holidays

This seasonal song is not for the faint-hearted; listening to this for the first time at 9am was indeed the wrong idea. Conan Gray has effortlessly wrapped up the feeling of witnessing the movement of time and reflecting upon it, being flooded with nostalgia and rekindling friendships, and tied them into the festive bow that is this stunning track. Lines like 'That years have passed, but you laugh exactly the same / When I see you for the Holidays' feel candid in admitting the complexities felt when returning home for the festive period. Selfishly it feels like everything has changed, but still, life at home has hit the pause button in many ways. Home, in this track, is a reminder of youth and the bittersweet inevitability of growing up, which feels very apt as we approach the Holiday season.

ree
Towa Bird - Rat Race

As her first single since the release of her debut album, 'American Hero', it is certainly an exciting time to be listening to Towa Bird. 'Rat Race' is bursting with angst, and Bird's energetic vocal delivery brings electricity to the track. It is punchy, but prevalent in addressing relevant and relatable issues to Bird's demographic of listeners. With lines like 'The world's gonna burn down in one day / But the Daily Mail said it's okay / If you smile first on the front page', Bird cannot, and will not, shy away from self-expression. The repetition of 'running, I'm running, I'm running' in the bridge only adds to the frenzy within the track, highlighting the vicious cycle of working to achieve something, but there never truly seems to be an end in sight as external forces, and media, work against you. You simply cannot listen to this without wanting to rock out alongside Bird, especially with the inclusion of intoxicating guitar solos and drums that raise your heart rate immediately. Whilst still in the infancy of her career, she has already reached an actualised sound that feels organic and true to who she is, so this feels like only the beginning of Towa Bird's inevitable rise to achieve greatness.

Qrion, Josie Man - Hush My Heart

Ahead of her upcoming album 'We Are Always Under The Same Sky' releasing in January, Qrion has shared a really exciting collaboration on this project with a Blonde Vibrations favourite, Josie Man. Man's vocals on 'Hush My Heart' are the perfect mix between a hypnotic sounds with reflective lyrics. Lines like 'I'd be lying if I said I wasn't over you' followed by danceable breakbeats is addictive and sets a really exciting tone for Qrion's new project as a transition from her debut album released in 2021. In addition to Qrion's clear hard work on this track, Man has such a unique vocal sound, and collaborations like this really gives her a place to celebrate this. Man is truly a one-of-a-kind artist in today's music scene - everything that she works on stands out to us, and it's great to see that her feature on this track is no different.

ree
Rose Gray - Switch

This track oozes seduction, celebrating the playful exploration of sexuality and the fluid dynamics of relationships. It advocates for carefree fun, throwing out tradition, and simply enjoying the exchange of energy with someone without needing to define binaries of one role someone must play within the relationship. Whilst it certainly succeeds as a party track (yes, this immediately found its way to the communal 'getting ready for the night out' playlist), it still feels intentional with its message and lyrics to provide further depth. Rose Gray clearly acts with conviction and if her upcoming album 'Louder, Please', set for release in January, lives up to the high expectations set by this track, it could very well mark her breakthrough into the mainstream dance-pop scene. The only thing to improve this track is to be able to experience it played live at a Gray show!

Forewarning that you are going to become obsessed with all of these fresh tracks. They are bound to creep their way onto your Spotify Wrapped, which will be out very, very soon....
